

Ellen never met a stranger. Whether she was at a sporting event or the grocery store, she loved to strike up a conversation with someone new. Ellen had a bright smile and lively personality. She genuinely cared for others and spent most of her life trying to bring joy to people.
Ellen had many roles in her life: wife, mother, grandmother, cook, special events worker, caretaker, and volunteer. She helped manage the Lockhart Livestock Auction cafe with her mother, Anna, for more than 15 years.
She was an avid Longhorn fan and regularly attended University of Texas sporting events with her son, Calvy.
Ellen loved her family and friends with every ounce of her heart, and she will be dearly missed. She is survived by her partner of 20 years, Steve McBride; son, Calvy Schoen; daughter, Misty Whited; son-in-law, James Whited; and two grandchildren, Morgan and Sydney. She is also survived by her brother Jessie Williford; mother-in-law, Thelma Schoen; brother-in-law, Clifton Schoen, and his wife Amy; brother-in-law, Robert Schoen, and his wife Crystal; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mark Schoen; mother, Anna Schmidt; father-in-law Preston Schoen, and brother-in-law, Randel Schoen.
The family will hold a graveside service at 10 a.m., September 13, 2024 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park, 6300 W William Cannon Dr., Austin TX 78749.
