Elna Louvina was born of Willie and Nettie Wisian on Christmas day 1918 on a farm outside Niederwald Texas during a flood. The doctor swam the swollen creek on his horse to deliver her, a two-and-a-half pound baby who was put into a shoe box.
As a young girl she began what would become a life of nurturing by caring for her younger siblings while her parents and older brother Sonny worked in the field. On August 12, 1939, she married Edmond August Koerner, a gentle carpenter of Govalle Texas. They lived in Austin and had two children, Monty and Anita.
Throughout her life Elna was a Lutheran, a woman of unquestioning faith, cheerfulness, and simple pleasures. Her pleasant companionship was enjoyed by all who met her.
After her husband's death in 1967, Elna lived with and cared for her parents until they passed. In later years she took delight in country drives with Monty or Anita and sisters Minnie and Audery and niece Sara. She never missed an opportunity to visit with family.
Elna was a believer in God; her focus was only on good. We know the Lord has welcomed her with open arms.
She is survived by son Monty Koerner and wife Nancy of Conroe, daughter Anita Baldridge of Lockhart, sister Audery Stone of San Antonio, brothers Bobby Wisian of Austin and Larry Wisian and wife Joan of San Antonio, grandchildren Tommy Koerner and wife Leslie of Montgomery and Kyle Koerner and wife Sharon of Tyler, Amy Watson and husband Roy of Lockhart, two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and eight nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Austin Memorial Park on Tuesday, December 23 at 10:00 a.m. Flowers may be sent to Weed-Corley-Fish, S. Congress or donations to Grace Lutheran Church in San Marcos.
