Elsie Allene Althenn, age 97, died peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024. Elsie was originally born at Walter Reed Hospital in Maryland but called Montgomery, Alabama home until she moved to Austin, Texas where she lived for the past 50+ years. Her favorite place was Hawaii where she lived as a young girl when her father was stationed there before WWII and then again when her husband was stationed there in the 1960’s. She loved the ocean and loved to dance the hula. Elsie also loved to read books, puzzles, and gardening.
Elsie was married to her husband Bill for over 50 years. She is survived by her three children, Robert, Richard and Denise. She had four grandchildren, Robby, Amber, Somer and Benjamin. She also had four great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren. The family will celebrate Elsie’s life in a private ceremony.
