

Elvira H. Wharton Elvira H. Wharton, 81, of Austin, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 7, 2004, and joins her husband Thomas James (T.J.) Wharton. Her husband passed away, October 7, 1968. She was born to Patricia G. and Ester (Trevino) Hernandez, in Laredo, Texas, on May 19, 1923. She resided in Laredo most of her life, made her home in Bishop, Texas with her husband for many years. She worked at Central Drug Store in Kingsville, for several years after her husband passed away, and made Austin her home for the last 17 years. She was employed by Walgreens, K-Mart, and MacFrugals over the course of the first 14 years in Austin. Rosary will be said following the 7:00 p.m. Mass at St. Pauls Catholic Church on August 12, 2004. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, August 13, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Pauls Catholic Church, with Fr. Paul McCallum officiating. Mrs. Wharton is survived by her daughter, Avis E. (Wharton) Kane and her husband, Arthur of Austin, TX; sons, James P. Wharton and wife, Debbie of Hewitt, TX and Thomas A. Wharton and wife, Lisa of Wimberley, TX; her sister, Mrs. Lucy Goodwin of Laredo, TX; brothers-in-law, C. Leroy Wharton and Tillie of Seguin, TX and Albert Wharton and wife Nancy of Bechelsville, PA; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her ashes will be interred in Bishop, Texas at a date yet to be determined, where she will lay next to her beloved and never forgotten husband, T.J.
