Emanuel "Manny" Rosenblatt, age 88, died peacefully on March 7, 2010 surrounded by his family. Born in New York City on October 13, 1921 to Minnie and Louis Rosenblatt, he lived in Texas since 1946. Manny wore many titles throughout his life: WWII veteran, manager and supervisor in the jewelry industry, lifelong volunteer, and member of Temple Beth Israel. Manny was also a Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, and a Shriner. The title he was most proud of, though, was devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He married his lifelong love Ethyl Lippman, and for 62 years they lived a true love story. In 1992, they moved from Houston to Austin to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Manny was an eternal idealist, and he saw the bright side in every situation. He loved recounting stories from his life, and with his playful humor and infectious laughter, it didn't even matter if the story had already been told a dozen times. He took endless pride in the achievements in his children and grandchildrens' lives. Manny was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister, Edna Stone. He is survived by his beloved wife Ethyl, devoted children Mimi Rosenblatt and Laura Hyman, son-in-laws Mark Lefenfeld and Paul Hyman, cherished grandchildren Amy, Lindsay, and Marissa Hyman, and Eric and Zackie Lefenfeld, and brother Jay Rosenblatt. Our family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Shapiro for his compassionate care and devotion to Manny over the past 18 years. We also want to thank Dr. Paul Harford and the amazing staff at the Pulmonary and Critical Care Consultants and the Seton Central ICU staff. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Manny Rosenblatt to Rabbi Cookie Olshein's discretionary fund at Congregation Beth Israel or to the Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas where Manny served as a volunteer.
