Emory was born on December 13, 1925, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to parents Rev. A.H. Muehlbrad and Elsie Krause Muehlbrad. He graduated from Daniel Baker College in 1949 with a degree in business. In 1953, he moved to Austin and began his career at DPS as a state trooper and rose in the ranks to become Manager Personnel and Training.
Emory was a caring man and loving father. He married Wandalie Hohertz Muehlbrad in 1948 and they had four children together.
Emory was a deeply religious man and served in many capacities at Faith Lutheran Church. He and Wanda lived out their faith by parenting over 300 foster children in addition to their own.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Bob Rockett; his granddaughters Sherry Gattis and Shannon Muehlbrad.
He is survived by this wife of 70 years, Wanda; his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Billy DeShazer; his daughter, Jackie Muehlbrad; and his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Becky Muehlbrad; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas 78752.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church, 6600 Woodrow Avenue, Austin, Texas 78757. Interment will follow at 11:30 am in Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
