Erica Lynn Swords, age 44, resident of Austin, Texas died peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2008 of complications from pancreatic cancer. Erica was born on April 23, 1964 in Covington, Louisiana. After graduating from St. Scholastica Academy, Erica enrolled and graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas in 1986. Erica loved the Texas Hill Country and after graduation decided to make Austin, Texas her new home. Erica loved spending time with her circle of friends. Over the years, Erica and her "tribe" participated in many charity cycling events, traveled both domestically and internationally, and participated in many fun happy hours and dinners enjoying the wonderful Austin nights. Erica had a special affinity for Lake LBJ as well as enjoying running and walking around Lady Bird Lake in the heart of Austin. Erica was always known to lend a helping hand or a compassionate ear any day, any time to any of her friends and family. Erica will always be known for her smile, her sense of humor, and her love. Erica is survived by her loving family: parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Swords of Covington, Louisiana; three sisters, two brothers, and seven nieces and nephews. Erica is also survived by many dear close friends known as her "tribe". The memorial service to celebrate Erica's life will be 11:00 am on Saturday, December 6th in the Visitor's Gallery Room at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Immediately following the service will be the interment of her ashes at Austin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, you may instead send a donation to the Michael Argall Scholarship Fund at the Austin Community Foundation (www.austincommunityfoundation.org) in Erica's honor.
