Ernest Carlton Garrett III

Ernest Carlton Garrett III, age 86, was called to glory on October 15, 2026. A resident of Austin, Texas, Ernest will be remembered with deep respect and abiding gratitude for a life marked by faith, devotion, and love—one that touched family, friends, and all who knew him.

Ernest was born April 21, 1940, in Denison, Texas, to Ernest Joshua Garrett and Willie Ruth Henderson Garrett. He confessed his belief in Christ at an early age at Haven Chapel Methodist Church in Denison, Texas, and that steady foundation of faith remained a guiding presence throughout his life.

He received his education at Terrell Elementary in Denison, Texas, and later attended Kealing Jr. High and Anderson High School in Austin, Texas. With a devoted spirit and a steady hand, Ernest built a life of purpose through his work as a lifelong master mechanic—respected for his skill and known for the care he brought to what he did each day.

Ernest united in Holy Matrimony to Dorothy A. Price, and unto this union two children were born: Ernest D. Garrett and Felicia M. Garrett. He later married Wanda McKnight, and unto this union one daughter was born, Ardella Marie Garrett. He later had a daughter, Shanequa Daniels and Ramona Daniels. He later married Pamela Smith. Through every season, Ernest remained a beloved presence to those closest to him, and his loving commitment to family will be remembered and carried forward.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and daughter, Ardella.

He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Ernest Dwayne Garrett (Bridget) of Concord, California; two daughter, Felicia Smith (Jerry), Shanequa Daniels of Austin, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at Fuller Sheffield Funeral Services, 2808 E. MLK Jr. Blvd., Austin, TX 78702, US, on October 30, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm
