Erwin Norman Kappler, age 87, died peacefully on September 16, 2005 at a healthcare center of natural causes. He was born June 29, 1918 in Giddings, Texas to Gerhard and Selma Symmank Kappler. Mr. Kappler served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He returned home and met his future wife Elizabeth Bittner whom he later married November 22, 1953. He also retired from the University of Texas at Austin in 1983 after 20 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kappler; daughter, Patricia Kappler both of Austin; sister Lorene Zoch of Houston; sister-in-law, Edline Weishuhn of La Grange; brother-in-law, Milton Kunkel of Loebau; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Annie Mae Kunkel of Loebau. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 19th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Services will be Tuesday, September 20th at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda, Texas with burial following at the church cemetery.
