

Estelle was born in Prairie Valley, TX on March 30, 1920 to Otto and Martha Placke. She later moved to Austin when she was 5 years old and considered herself a native Austinite.
She attended Austin schools finishing in bookkeeping, accounting and accounting concepts. She retired from the Veterans' Administration Data Processing Center in 1977.
Her first husband, Bird Kohn (co-owner of Kohn's Pan Dandy Baking Company) preceded her in death October 1979 and her second husband, Ret. Col. C.D. Lewis, whom she married in 1984, preceded her in death in January 1990. She lost a grandson, Randy McCutcheon, in November 2007 and a son, Richard Kohn August 2009.
Estelle was a chartered member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church for over 60 years, having served on the Alter Guild, Martha's Circle and Christian Services.
Mrs. Lewis worked over 10,000 hours as a Red Cross volunteer nurse and aid at Brackenridge and Seton Hospitals.
She was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Widow Persons Service and a life time member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include children Carolyn and husband Phil Lord of Cedar Creek and Peggy and husband Jack Stone of College Station. Grandchildren Kimberly Attallah, Greg Franzetti, Craig Franzetti and Carrie Franzetti, and great grandchildren Mia and Natalie Schultea with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2011 at Weed-Corley- Fish Funeral Chapel, 3125 North Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX 78705, with interment following at 1:00 p.m. at Austin Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Kimberly Attallah, Greg Franzetti, Carrie Franzetti, Craig Franzetti, Charles Betts, Bill Brewer, Tommy Matthews and Donald Matthews.
The family wishes to thank Angel Heart Hospice and all of those who provided mom with such loving care.
