
Dear sweet mom  No amount of words can fully express what you meant to all of us.  You were always there for me and my kids.  Whenever I needed to go anywhere I would just drop off the kids to you, did not even ask if you could watch them for me, and yet, you  never said no.  You always gave me the attention I needed and you definitely sacrificed alot for my brothers and I.  You always wanted us to further our education and would insist I hit the books, do my homework and learn, learn, learn.  You did not want me to go through lifes hardships as you had, but mom, that was what made you the amazing, strong willed, loving person you were.  I do not remember you ever complaining about your trying childhood, your teen years or your married life with dad.  Everything to you was a milestone reached.  You have passed this on to us, as well and I am so grateful to the Lord for having had you around me through all my trying times, because I did complain at times, but you made sure I kept on.  Wow, what a blessing you were to us Lady Ester.  Everyday I thank my God for having shared you with us in this world and am looking forward to seeing you once again in heaven.  I love you so much dear mommy and miss you but know you are being loved so much more now that you are finally home. Thank you dear Jesus for all you have given me and helped me through in this life, and especially thank you for my sweet mother.

Mable Pacheco              Adel Pacheco              Gina Tamez    We will always remember Tia Ester as a woman who loved you and her family dearly.  A happy, strong, and independent woman. A woman who wasn't afraid to work outside the home at a time when married women were supposed to stay at home. She worked, took care of her family and her home-all with great success and managing to do so without the use of present technology!!  She was one of the women who broke barriers for the women of today.  A woman who was greatly admired and loved by all.  We will miss her!



Grannyma had a way of capturing attention without meaning to.  Her striking silver white hair and happy demeanor attracted a middle-age woman at a Kyle taqueria a couple years ago.  Upon the interaction, the woman asked if Grannyma would give her a hug.  Of course Grannyma obliged which instantly brought tears to the womans eyes as Grannyma had reminded her of her own grandmother.    Last year as Grannymas health began to deteriorate, we all encouraged her to use a cane or a wheelchair.  She flatly refused!  Mom & our family friend, James concocted a plan by purchasing a cane and offering it to Grannyma as a gift from James.  It still took a while before she accepted the fact that getting from the bed to the dinner table would be a lot easier with it!  Although her appetite was waning, when she was hungry  boy could she eat!    Grannyma, you will always be a special part of me.       More memories to follow...



One of my personal most cherished memories occurred when I was seven years old.  Grannyma & I traveled many hours on a Greyhound bus to North Carolina.  We visited Uncle Gilbert, Aunt Connie & Naomi for the celebration of my cousins 1st birthday.   The journey itself was an experience!  I remember Grannyma giving me change to buy a toy ring  which stuck on one of my fingers but thankfully, my heroine Grannyma, helped remove the ring.   I also had a free-for-all kids luxury of being able to purchase any type of candy or pastry.  We also missed a bus and had to wait for hours until the next one  but it didnt bother me none  I was with my grandma  having a grand time.    On the second day of my marriage, Grannyma flat out laid down the law of the Texican custom of serving my new husbands meal before serving myself.  I was caught off guard because I consider myself to be a modern woman.  Grandma served Grandpa in MANY ways for nearly 58 years.  In the last year as her health declined, it was Grandpas turn to serve her. Grandpa courageously stood by her side, taking care of her every need. On one occasion, Traci was overcome with emotion when she observed Grandpa feeding Grandma her pills mixed in applesauce.  She told Grandpa how proud she was to see him taking care of Grandma so tenderly. His reply was simply Thats just what you do. She gave me a lot of good years.    Grandma was everything to Becky, my mom. Grandma supported Mom through so many trials and tribulations. When Mom lost her husband 10 years ago, Grandma was her life support.  Shortly afterwards, she and Grandpa moved from their lifelong home of Corpus Christi to live with Mom.  They were companions and best friends. They went on gambling excursions to Nevada, Lost Wages, and Louisiana.      In the end, Mom selflessly devoted all her time and energy in making Grandma as comfortable as possible.    Lady Ester was such an integral part of the whole family and has a permanent residence (and will always be) in all of our hearts.  Shes with us in spirit  when we look to the sky, when we light a candle, when we sit down for a meal, when the wind blows, when the rain falls and when the world turns.    Her outlook can be summed up by one of her sayings  never mind the weather  let the wind blow.    Siempre te amo mucho.  Tamra

Oh God!  I'm so sorry for the loss of Grandma Pacheco.  I was reading the morning paper today and saw her face in the obituaries.  I can't explain the shock I felt when I recognized her and then I read on and realized that it WAS her.  I feel like, that in her death a part of me had died too and didn't know why until I started thinking about her and all the times our lives had crossed; how she was never, ever a negative influence; how she was always a positive force... ...and then I saw the picture of her when she was young and I swear Tammy looks SO much like her and I had never seen the resemblance before.  It moved me so much that I wrote a poem for her and everyone in the family expressing these same emotions. God bless everyone and thank you Grandma Pacheco and ALL of the family for also being a positive force throughout my life.                  your loving grandson                  Kevin
