A Celebration of Evan's Life is tentatively planned for October 18th at Addison Grove. We will confirm or update a change as we get closer. Thank you for everyone's heartfelt notes and prayers. He is deeply missed.
Evan Michael Doss died tragically in a truck accident on July 2nd, 2020 near Amarillo, Texas.
He was larger than life in both stature and spirit. He lived every day to the fullest and took
tremendous joy in being a loving friend, son, brother, and a fiercely devoted uncle to his nieces
and nephews.
Evan was the youngest of six kids and was born at home in the Texas Hill Country on January
29th, 1989 at 1:29AM. He attended Bowie High School and worked for many local businesses,
including The Feed Station and Sunset Canyon Vet Clinic, before forming his own company.
Evan loved working outdoors and felt a special kinship with his native land. He deeply loved all
animals and especially dogs and horses. He created many loving relationships and deep
connections with nearly everyone he met. In his early twenties he taught himself to play the
guitar and took voice lessons, and quickly became a skilled musician and vocalist. He carried at
least one guitar with him everywhere he went, and performed at a wide range of local venues,
including Driftwood Methodist Church, The Holy Spirit Episcopalian Church,The Twisted X
Brewery, Homespun, and The Rusty Mule. Evan also played weddings and sang in several
bands, and would always play our father’s favorite song, “Wayfaring Stranger” whenever he was
in the audience.
Evan loved life and adventure, and spent much time traveling through the Western United
States exploring the raw natural beauty of the mountains, forests, and waterfalls he cherished
so dearly. He also made two trips to South America, where he fell in love with the beauty of the
jungle, the ruins, and the culture of Peru.
Evan was deeply spiritual and connected to the divine through intentional self-exploration. He
always reflected on his life in an effort to become a better man than he was the day before.
This led him to be a deeply loving, loyal, and beautiful soul who was as unique and incredible as
anyone could ever be. Thirty one years does not make a lifetime fulfilled, but Evan fit a couple of
lifetimes into thirty one years. He will be forever missed and remembered by those whose lives
he touched.
Evan is survived by his parents Barbara Osborne and John Doss, his brothers and sisters Aaron
Doss, Elynor Doss and Jeffrey Fleegal, Elizabeth Doss and Ryan Martin, Matthew Doss and
Jackie Doss, and Emily Doss and William Aldredge. He is survived also by his nieces and
nephews Jack and Ava Doss, Suzanna, Bobby, Brian and Mack Fleegal, Bronwyn Doss-Martin,
Adan, Alan, and Alison Doss.
A celebration of life service will be held at Addison Grove in early fall at a date to be determined
in the near future.
Donations in Evan’s honor can be made to Red Arena as he loved horses and appreciated their
ability to help heal the mind and body.
