

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; her parents; and her sisters, Carolina Arechiga, Marina Rendon and Dora De La Rosa.
She is survived by her children, Ellien Navarro (Arthur), Mollie Ahlbrand (James) and Joel Rodriguez (Molly). She was affectionately called "Grandmama" and is also survived by her grandchildren, Ulric Szabo (Lia), Aaron Navarro (Michelle), Angelica Ellien Navarro, Derrick Szabo (Tracy), Christopher Navarro (Crystal), Marisela Mitchley (Chad), and Matthew Rodriguez; eight great-grandchildren, with one on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Rivas and her companion of seventeen years, Toney Mungia.
Her mother passed away when she was 9 years old, and shortly thereafter, the family moved to Austin. She later met the love of her life, Gilbert and they married in 1947. Together they lived a beautiful life, devoted and loving to each other. Their love was the essence of their being, and that love embraced and nurtured their family. The love they shared will be engrained in the hearts of their family forever. In their forty-five years of marriage, they traveled the world, visiting places many dream of. She loved music, and was an avid dancer. She lived life to the fullest and she was truly blessed. Her family was especially blessed for having her in our lives.
She was a devoted wife, dedicated mother, and exceptional Grandmama. She always inspired her children and grandchildren to be the best and excel in all areas of their lives. She led them thru the paths of life with conviction and faith, instilling great morals and teaching the importance of dedication and gratitude.
She was born a caregiver and was always ready to help those in need. She graciously cared for her sister Dora, faithfully visiting every Sunday. She also lovingly cared for her father and her in laws.
She also served St. Julia's Catholic Parish for countless years. She took immense pride in preparing the altar for Mass, and exquisitely planned details for arranging the church for special occasions. She always took great pride in the presentation, ensuring its elegance and beauty. She later became a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she and Gilbert were dedicated parishioners. They visited the adoration chapel faithfully.
She was a devout Catholic and her life was filled by an unwavering faith and devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. She was a woman who lived life by her faith. She was an exquisite woman, and her elegance and beauty radiated from her being, which truly set her apart.
Her physical presence will be missed, but her spirit will live in us forever.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the staff at Riverside Nursing Home, Hospice Austin and to those who have provided their support during this most difficult time.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 7th, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Catholic burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 8th, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Fr. Charles Banks officiating. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
