Eve Everett Fish was born the daughter of William Hume Everett (Hume) and Eva Louise Everett in San Antonio, Texas on August 8, 1934. She departed this world on May 21, 2014. Eve spent most of her youth growing up in Casper, WY with her three brothers William Hume Everett III (Bill), Robert Freeman Everett (Bob), and Austin Rodgers Everett (Rod). She graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper in 1952. Eve attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA for two years and completed her studies at Rice University in Houston, where she received her degree in Liberal Arts in 1956. After graduation, she taught elementary school at a private girls' school in San Francisco and then at The Kincaid School in Houston.
In 1960, Eve met James Colbert Fish (Jim) on a blind date to the Bluebonnet Bowl in Houston. They married in September 1961 and had twins, James Colbert Fish Jr. (Jim) and Jennie Marie Fish in 1962. They moved to Austin in 1965 and Anne Louise Fish was born to Eve and Jim in 1967.
Eve was a long-time member of the Austin Women's Symphony League, the Austin BQ Chapter of PEO (where she served as President), and the Austin Lyric Opera. Eve also served as President of the Mother of Twins Club and volunteered countless hours to philanthropic causes and service to others. Eve's strong Christian faith was a significant part of her life, and she and Jim raised their children at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Vacation Bible School. The family began attending The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd approximately 30 years ago, and Eve also attended a weekly healing service at St. David's Episcopal Church.
Eve departs leaving behind her husband Jim of 52 years, her three children Jennie and her husband Jeff, Jim and his wife Tracy, and Anne and her husband Jim. She also leaves behind her three grandchildren Austin, Nicole, and Stephanie, her three brothers Bill, Bob and Rod, and many other loving family members and friends. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Michael Shapiro, who provided continual comfort, care and council to Eve during her years of medical treatment. All who ever met Eve immediately experienced the kind, giving and elegant lady who she was. She will be missed dearly, but we can all take solace in something she recently said, "I'm ok. I know where I'm going". We do too Eve.
