Evelyn was born October 4, 1931 in San Angelo, Texas to Frances Weathersbee Oglesby and Enslie Orsen Oglesby. She graduated from San Angelo Central High School, attended Randolph-Macon Women's College and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. She received a Bachelor's Degree in English and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
Evelyn enjoyed her childhood summers at Camp Nagawicka where she discovered her love for tennis and the outdoors. Attending the neighboring boy's camp was Jack Hill from Mississippi, who quickly caught Evelyn's eye. A playful friendship blossomed into unwavering love and marriage in 1953. They were married for 58 years until Jack's passing in 2011. Together, they raised two lovely daughters in their forever home in Austin.
Although she devoted much of her time to caring for her family, Evelyn dedicated herself to community activities to include the Junior League of Austin, Pi Beta Phi Alumni, the Texas Fine Arts Association, Saint David's Auxiliary and the Women's Dental Auxiliary. She was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and a member of the Good Shepherd Altar Guild.
Evelyn was affectionately known as ''Evie'' by all who knew her, including her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a captivating, elegant woman who loved entertaining, gardening, traveling and in her later years, watching golf on television. Whether she was spending time in South Texas, on safari in Africa or just watching the sunset in her backyard, she always lived life to the fullest.
However, she was happiest when surrounded by her dear friends and family members.
Evie was an excellent tennis player, enjoying many matches at Tarry House. She hosted bridge with her girlfriends and looked forward to spending Friday nights at the Symphony. Some of her favorite memories were weekends dove and quail hunting with Jack and friends in Zella and Golliad.
Evelyn is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Cynthia and Fisher Trigg, Rebecca and Terry Biehunko, five grandchildren, Rachel Walton Jones and husband, James, Andrew Walton and wife Natalie, Jack Biehunko, Elizabeth Biehunko, Sarah Biehunko and fiancé, Benjamin McSween.
Evie will also be missed by her great grandchildren, Pierce Carter Jones and Avery Evelyn Walton who loved her very much. She is also survived by sister in law, Peggy Allison (Richard) and nieces and nephews and her amazing step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her parents, brother Enslie “Bud” Oglesby, Jr., and sister Frances Keay (James). The family would like to extend their thanks to Evie's wonderful care givers, Pamela, Marianna, Maria, Erika, Ada and the staff at the Village of Southampton in Houston.
