

Fannie came to Austin to attend Sam Houston College to major in Physical Education. She was baptized at an early age and later became a member of Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church under Pastor Washington in 1942, where she has been a steady member. She was a faithful servant to the Usher Board, Delta Friend, Craig House Committee(Charter member), and Bereavement Community for over 20 years, where she would cook meals for families.
Fannie worked for the University of Texas at the Varsity and Austin Independent School District as a cook. She worked part time as a cook for Mrs. V.G. Okie for 40 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Matthew Curry Jr, both parents and one sister, Gail Wilson and favorite cousin Sylvia Jean Martin.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Terri Curry Helm (Richard) of Dallas, Texas, Toni Curry Gregory (Joseph) of Columbus, Georgia and three grandsons, Rashad O. Curry Sr. of Colorado Springs, Jabri S. Major of Austin, Texas (Jennifer) and Christopher D. Helm of Dallas, Texas and she leaves five great grandchildren, S’Raiah, Serenity, Rashad Jr., Tionne Major, and Titus Major all from Austin, Texas and one sister, Shelia Wilson of Smithville, Texas and her two cousins Louis Moore of Houston, Texas and Willy Culberson (Carla) of Bastrop, Texas and rest of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Greater Mt. Zion Church, 4301 Tannehill Ln, Austin, TX 78721, US, on March 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Greater Mt. Zion Church, 4301 Tannehill Ln, Austin, TX 78721, US, on March 14, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
