

Fengde Qian, age 90, passed away at home on September 11, 2026, in Austin, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on January 18, 1936, in Shanghai, China. From the very beginning of her life, she faced hardship. Her father had passed away before she was born. Yet, throughout her life, she showed remarkable strength, resilience, and determination.
Fengde was known for her beautiful, big smile and her warm and generous heart. She was kind, genuine, open-minded, curious, and always interested in learning about the world around her. After completing an associate degree in evening university, she worked diligently at a shipbuilding company. She took great pride in her work and was known for her strong work ethic.
She married her beloved husband, Zhiwen Ma, and together they built a family and raised two children. She was a devoted wife and a loving, dedicated mother who always put her family first. Her love and care were a constant source of strength for those around her.
In her spare time, Fengde enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, and traveling. Despite life’s hardships, she faced each challenge with courage, strength, and determination.
Fengde was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Zhiwen Ma, and her son, Hongfei Ma. She is survived by her daughter, Xiaowei Ma Zhang; her son-in-law, Yahui Zhang; and her grandsons, Lawrence Letian Zhang and David Leyi Ma.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her. Her warm smile, kind heart, strength, and love will live on in our hearts and in the beautiful memories we cherish.
She will always remain in our hearts.
