

She was born to John and Frances Nemec, June 4, 1934, in Corn Hill, Texas. She was the youngest of nine children and was preceded in death by her siblings: Lucy, Margaret, Alice, John, Ted, Martha, Paul, and Helen, and their spouses. She grew up on the Nemec family farm and attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church and School.
Frances married Wilburn Friesenhahn on July 21, 1958, and they celebrated fifty-eight years together before he preceded her in death. He was a sergeant in the United States Air Force. His career allowed them to live in Austin, Indiana, and Oklahoma. Frances is survived by her two sons, Thomas and Leonard. Thomas Friesenhahn and his wife, Michelle Lu Friesenhahn, live in San Antonio. Leonard Friesenhahn, his wife, Barbara Friesenhahn, and their two children, Carl and Renae, live in Austin. Frances considered her two grandchildren, Carl and Renae, to be the pride and joy of her life.
Frances was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, godmother and friend. She was a devout Catholic with deep spiritual beliefs. Throughout her life she was active in numerous charitable organizations that were part of the church she attended. She always brought happiness to others. She loved to cook and never sent anyone home hungry. Her work life centered around cooking and baking. She worked at a café in Taylor, Lammes Candies in Austin, several AISD school cafeterias, and a kolache shop. She had a huge heart and will be greatly missed.
There will be a visitation starting at 5:00 p.m. and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, on Thursday, April 20, 2023. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 12041 Bittern Hollow, on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 10:00 am. Burial will be on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 South I-35 Hwy Frontage Road.
