Frances Landrum Holman was born February 19, 1911, to Mood Cicero and Amanda Westen Landrum of Bertram, Texas. She died December 16, 2009, in Weslaco, Texas. In her childhood, her family moved from Bertram to Austin, so she could attend Austin schools. She graduated from The University of Texas with a degree in Business Administration, a rare course of study for women of her day. She taught high school commercial business courses before her marriage to Berkeley Natt Holman of Bay City, Texas. Berkeley and Frances worked together in a successful real estate business and built homes in Austin for many years. They were members of Saint David's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Holman was an 81 year member of Kappa Alpha Theta as an active and alumnus and served on it's national foundation board. She was also a member of The Settlement Club in Austin. Mrs. Holman was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Berkeley, in 1990. The couple had one daughter, Julie Landrum Holman, who now lives in Weslaco, Texas, with her husband, Tom J. Weigel, Jr., also of Austin. She is survived by three grandchildren, Emilie (and husband The Reverend Haynes W. Dugan, II), Gail, and John, and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Austin Memorial Park on Saturday, December 19, 2009, at 3:00 p.m., and will be officiated by The Reverend Ron Smith of Saint David's Episcopal Church and her grandson-in-law, The Reverend Haynes W. Dugan, II. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Settlement Home of Austin, 1600 Payton Gin Road, Austin, Texas 78758, Saint David's Episcopal Church, 301 E. 8th St., Austin, Texas 78701 or Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, 8740 Founders Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46268.
