Frances Bisang Monroe

Frankie attended Thomas Jefferson High School and Incarnate Word College. In 1946 Frankie married Robert (Bobby) Monroe and they lived in El Paso and San Antonio before permanently settling in Austin in 1954.

Frankie was a devoted mother to her four children and a committed supporter of all of their activities—attending and assisting with Girl Scouts, Blue Brigade, Music Lessons, Baseball teams and Tennis matches. She could put together a picnic outing in record time and still had time to maintain lifelong friendships as well as making new friends.

Preceding Frankie in death was her husband of 67 years, Bobby in 2013, her parents and her brother, Robert Bisang. Frankie is survived by her sister, Jerry Hutcheson and brother, Jim Bisang. She is also survived by her children Marsha & Chuck Halso, Terry & Randy McKetta, Mark & Glenda Monroe and Matt & Janet Monroe. Also, saying good bye to Mimi are her grandchildren Brian Halso, Kristen Halso, Gillian & Ryan Crow, Michelle Monroe, Robby & Lauren McKetta , Jeannie McKetta, Garrett Monroe, Dillon Monroe and Elise Monroe. Great grandchildren who will miss their Mimi are Emmett McKetta, Andrew McKetta and Caroline Crow.

As a dedicated professional, she worked in a number of settings including The Austin Public Library, the office of Texas Governor Preston Smith and the Texas Public Health Association.

Frankie was active in many social organizations such as Phi Gamma Delta Mothers and Wives Club and Austin Woman's Club. Her membership in Daughters of the King was especially meaningful to her.

A memorial service for Frankie will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 11:00a.m. at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 209 W 27th St, Austin, TX 78705.

In lieu of flowers Frankie would have loved donations made to her beloved Church, All Saints' Episcopal Church or to The Trail Foundation, supporting the trail around Lady Bird Lake, where she and Bobby walked and dreamed for several years.
