Frances W. Thanisch

Frances Thanisch, 93, of Austin, went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2011. She was born on April 6, 1918 in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Fred and Janie (Porter) Rathgeber. She married Claude Thanisch on July 24, 1937 in Alamogordo, New Mexico and this marriage was blessed with three wonderful children. They raised their family in the Texas Panhandle living in various cities. Frances has been living in the Austin area since 1981. Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Claude Thanisch and a daughter, Phyllis Powell of Kansas. She is survived by a son; Gordon Thanisch and his wife, Kay of Whitehouse, Texas, a daughter, Janna Cutright and husband, John of Georgetown, Texas, nine grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Ava Hughes for her care of our mother. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family one hour prior to services, on Saturday, the 16th of July at one o’clock in the afternoon at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin. Services will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon following the visitation. A private burial will take place at Cook Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
