Frank Lee Jennings

Frank was born May 17, 1935, in Austin, Texas, and went to his heavenly home on December 10, 2015. He grew up in the Rosedale neighborhood and attended Trinity Lutheran School. During his youth he was known as Frankie, which is still used by some lifetime friends and family. Frank graduated from Austin High School in 1953 and joined the U.S.M.C. where he served for 2 years. In 1956 he met the love of his life. He married Jeanette Gunn on July 4, 1958. Frank went to the University of Texas and graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and became a CPA. He worked for Houston Natural Gas, Lakeway Resort, the State Auditor's Office, and ultimately made his career with the University of Texas System in Austin until his retirement in 1992. Frank was involved with many civic organizations during his life including the JC's, Marbridge Ranch, Homeless Breakfasts, and was an Election Judge with the Travis County Polls for many years. Frank was very dedicated to serving at Redeemer Lutheran Church as an elder for almost 50 years, as well as on many boards and as a congregation President. He also served on the Boards of the Texas District LCMS and Campus Ministries. During his life he loved gardening, golf, Longhorn athletics, and mostly being a Pawpaw with his grandchildren.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Frances Ward Jennings; sister, Betty Jo Douglas, and brother, Charles Jennings. Frank is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanette; sons Kevin Jennings and wife Kathy of Corpus Christi, Jay Jennings and wife Connie of Austin; five Jennings grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Jonathan, Michael and Katie; Brothers-in-law Joe Gunn, Raymond Whitaker and wife Margaret; Sisters-in-law Nora Belle Anderson and Anna Jennings; many friends and his church family at Redeemer.

A memorial service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church - Austin, Mt Olive Lutheran Church - Corpus Christi, or a charity of your choice.
