

Frank Roberts Miller (Bob), of Austin, Texas, died on Saturday, August 7, 2010. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on August 29, 1927 to Charlie Roberts Miller and Earl Wallace Miller. He graduated from high school in 1945 from Pembroke Country Day School in Kansas City, Missouri, where he was elected “Best Boy.” In 1951, he received a degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin, and was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. His college career was interrupted for a year and a half when he served in the United States Air Force.
In 1951, he married Eugenia Stallings Betts. They moved to Sherman, Texas, where Bob worked for Davis Motor Company. While in Sherman, his daughters, Kathryn and Margaret, were born. From 1954 to 1957, Bob owned Bob Miller Lincoln-Mercury in Denison, Texas, where the family was living. In 1957, the family moved to Austin, where son Tom was born.
During his business career, he owned and operated Continental Cars (Austin), Bob Miller Volkswagen (Austin), Mahan Volkswagen (Houston), Town North Datsun – Porsche Audi ( Austin), Sundance Recreational Vehicles (Austin), Northway Volkswagen (Houston), Southpoint Importing Company (Austin), Bob Miller Jaguar (Austin), Northwest Mitsubishi (Austin), Bob Miller Subaru (Austin), Southwest Freeway Porsche-Audi (Houston), Waterloo Motors (Austin), Credit Cars (Austin, Kingsville, Lampasas, Temple, Burnet, and San Antonio), South Texas Chrysler (Kingsville), Highland Autoplex (Burnet), and Miller Motor Company (Lampasas).
Bob served as President of Southwest British Motor Car Dealer Council, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, President of the Austin New Car Dealers Association, Area Director of the Texas Automobile Dealers Association, Vestryman of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, President of the Dealer Advisory Council of Volkswagen South Central Distributor, Member of Volkswagen Top Twenty Group, Secretary of National Volkswagen Dealer Advisory Council, Treasurer of Volkswagen American Dealer Association, Secretary of American Imported Dealers Association, Board of Directors of National Bank of Commerce (Austin), member of National Porsche Audi Dealer Council, Board of Directors of NBC Bankshares (Austin), Board of Directors of Paramount Theater (Austin), and Board of Directors of Trans Mississippi Amateur Golf Association.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eugenia Betts Miller, daughter Kathryn Miller Anderson and husband Larry, daughter Margaret Miller Pierce and husband Michael, son Thomas Roberts Miller, grandchildren Margaret Emily Meador Anguamea and husband Eric, Nancy Kathryn Meador, Benjamin Davis Roberts Meador, Kathryn Mickelson Pierce, and Timothy Miller Pierce. He is also survived by brother Thomas Stanley Miller and wife Sis, of Dallas, and their children and grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his beloved dog, Sallie.
Bob loved life, especially when traveling to Galveston, Cuernavaca, and New Orleans; playing golf; cooking healthy food; listening to Bobby Short, Bill Evans, and Luis Miguel; and being home with his family. Bob will always be remembered for his integrity, sense of humor, humility, generosity, and kindness.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, August 13th at 4:00 in the afternoon at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 3201 Windsor Road, Austin 78703.
