

Fred D. Gunder, age 84, was born April 25, 1922 in Salemville, PA, and died February 7, 2007 in Austin, Texas. Fred was predeceased by his first wife, Gladys Davis Gunder, and his parents, H. Fred Gunder and Mary Ellen Dodson Gunder, and by granddaughter, Debbie Allen Schindler. Fred is survived by wife, Mickey; daughter, Patty Monfeli; son, Fred D. Gunder, Jr.; stepdaughter, Cladette Allen; stepson, Byron L. Davis; grandchildren, Fred Monfeli, Regina Monfeli and Wesley Gunder and 7 additional grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Fred served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He retired from the Nueces County Sheriffs Department in 1987. He moved to Austin in 1993. Fred was currently the Worthy Patron of Travis Chapter # 472, OES. He was an endowed member of Oso Naval Masonic Lodge and a member of Hill City Masonic Lodge #456 AF & AM, Ben Hur Shrine, and the Colorado Commandry #4. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2007 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2007, at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel with Reverend Don Long officiating, OES services under the auspices of Travis Chapter #472 and U.S. Army Military Honors.
