Gail Nancy Cochran (April 6, 1945 - June 17, 2023), a resident of Austin, TX, and born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, passed away peacefully at the age of 78. Gail was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Cochran, who passed away in 1998, as well as her father, Gilbert Guschl, and her mother, Bernice Guschl Braun. Gail made a lasting impact through her diverse pursuits. She had a career in education, and the newspaper industry, and her knowledge and passion for the arts led her to serve as a docent at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Known for her vibrant personality, Gail appreciated a brandy Manhattan mightily and did not suffer fools gladly. Beyond her professional endeavors, she was a loving mother to Brian (Shana) and Cory and cherished her role as a doting grandmother (G.G.) to her beloved Teddy. Her love and devotion were also felt by her extended family, cherished friends, and her indomitable dog and constant companion, Ike (Ikey Doodle Dandy born on the 4th of July).
May she find eternal peace, and in the words of Peggy Lee, “If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing. Let's break out the booze and have a ball. If that's all there is.”
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Best Friends Animal Society (https://bestfriends.org/) would be appreciated.
