Born in Harlingen, TX on June 28, 1949, Gail was the daughter of Nolan Edgar Edmonson and Darcia Mae York Edmonson.
She is survived by her husband James George Hough Jr. of Austin, TX, daughter Jennifer Lynne Scoggins of Lakeway, TX, grandson Nathan Kyle Scoggins of Lakeway, TX, and brother Joe Lee Edmonson of Edinburg, TX.
Gail grew up in Harlingen, Texas. After graduating from Harlingen High School in 1967, she attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas, where she earned an elementary education degree in 1971.
She married her high school sweetheart James (Buddy) in 1972 and became a mother to Jennifer in 1977. Gail had a passion for teaching and taught elementary school for more than 20 years in San Antonio, Harlingen, and Austin.
Gail and her family became members of Woodlawn Baptist Church in the mid-1980s, where she made lifelong friends.
She loved being a wife, mom, and grandmother, and will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Austin, TX at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks in Austin, TX at 12:00 p.m.
