Gail J. Piotrowski, succumbed to cancer after a 17 year battle Friday August 2, 2013 at her home in Austin, Texas with her family and many friends by her side. She was born in Van Nuys, CA to Grammer and Lue Yeary.
Gail enjoyed many things in life, but will be most remembered for her love of people and amazing artistic ability. If there was a surface that would take paint she could turn it into something beautiful. She worked over the years as a paralegal, office administrator and real estate agent.
In 1969 she married the love of her life Leonard Piotrowski and lived in Houston Texas for the first years of marriage. In 1988 they made their way to Austin TX and have lived here since. In 2004, Gail was blessed with her first and only grandchild, namesake, Avery Gail Winters. While in Austin, Gail has been instrumental in the creation of and support of many cancer support groups and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. She will always be remembered for her ability to always make time for those around her, and the way she could just listen when you needed it most.
Gail is survived by her husband of 44 years Leonard Piotrowski; daughter Lara Piotrowski, son Lance Piotrowski, granddaughter Avery Winters all of Austin, sister Bonita McAdoo of Rush Springs Oklahoma, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gail was preceded in death by her mother Lue Wood, stepfather Albert Wood, brother James Yeary, sister in law Dee Yeary, mother in law Josephine Piotrowski Kordonowy, and father in law Bill Kordonowy. Special thanks to Texas Oncology (Dr. Brenda Towell), and Hospice Austin for their amazing care and support.
