Gail Yale went home to her Lord and Savior on May 28, 2026, at the age of 82, following a brief battle with cancer. She faced her final days the way she lived her whole life - with faith, frankness, and a desire to be with her Lord.
Gail was born on July 1, 1943, in Canisteo, New York, the daughter of Charles and Harriet Boller. In 1950, her family settled in Irondequoit, a suburb of Rochester, where Gail grew up and graduated from high school.
In the fall of 1962, she met a handsome Texas cowboy who was in Rochester for training and Gail was smitten. After a brief courtship, she boarded a plane to Dallas and married Terry Yale on January 13, 1963. In short order Gail gave birth to a daughter and a son and her household was complete by her 21st birthday.
Together, Gail and Terry built the quintessential family of their era. Terry provided, and Gail ran everything else – and she ran it well. She made every penny count, kept a tidy home, paid the bills, planned and cooked the meals, and raised her children with love, strong morals, and steady discipline. As Terry climbed the management ranks, the family followed his career across the country: six years in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, then Kansas City, Kansas; Rochester, New York; Cleveland, Ohio; and West Milford, New Jersey, before returning to the Dallas Metroplex in 1986 where Terry retired. In 1990, the two of them moved to the Lower Rio Grande Valley to run a mobile home park and settled into life as permanent snowbirds.
Above all, Gail was a devout Christian, and her greatest joy was the study of God's Word. She participated in Bible Study Fellowship from 1991 until shortly before her death, serving for many of those years as a leader. Gail carried the strength of the word of God in her heart every day and developed deep caring friendships with a select group of friends who shared the power of God’s word.
Gail was well known for her sassy, self-deprecating humor and her frankness and sarcasm caught many a newcomer off-guard. She was not one for outward sentiment, yet she cared deeply for the special people in her life.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Harriett Boller; her sister, Ruth Stanton; and her beloved husband of 48 years, Terry.
She is survived by two children, Kim Girnus of Austin and Ed Yale and wife Camille of San Angelo; six grandchildren, Peter Girnus, Kathryn Girnus, Charlotte Girnus, Marshall Yale and wife Shaelyn Silverman, Rob Yale, and Vivian Yale; and one great-grandchild, Sebastian MacDonald-Girnus.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 11:00am at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Alvord, Texas. The family will announce a second memorial service in Weslaco at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gail's memory to the Antioch Bible Church, 1308 N Alamo Rd, Alamo, TX 78516; or to Bible Study Fellowship, class 686 (McAllen, TX Women’s Day Class), PO Box 675241, Dallas, TX 75267-5241.
Gail leaves behind a family shaped by her faith and love. We rejoice in the assurance that she is now in the presence of the Savior she faithfully served throughout her life.
