

Gale Gentry, 61, of Austin, lost her battle with cancer on September 24th in Austin, Texas, surrounded by her family. Gale is survived by her husband Weldon Gentry of Austin, daughter Monica Simpson of Houston, son-in-law Dan Simpson, son Geoffrey Gentry of Austin, 3 grandchildren Madeline Gale Simpson, George Simpson and Grace Gentry, her mother Ura Dean Stracener, sister and brother-in-law Jayne and David Boe all of Rockport, and her niece Jennifer Gale Jackson of Dallas, as well as Don and Cindy Gentry of Austin and Bob and Susan Bulla of Hawkins, Texas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Temple, Texas on February 14, 1948, Gale grew up in Victoria, Texas and moved to Austin in 1960 where she graduated from Reagan High School and later graduated cum laude from Richland College. Gale was a member of the Junior League and engaged in numerous other charitable organizations and community affairs. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and president of the women's group, in Victoria, Texas. She later moved back to Austin and was a Realtor for 19 years. Gale was best known for her dedication to her family. She was an excellent wife, mother, aunt, daughter, sister, and grandmother. She devoted her life to others, especially her family. Her spirit was full of love, humor, and a zest for life. We have lost our best friend and a beautiful person to all that knew her. She was our life, love and laughter. May God bless her soul and may she rest in peace. She will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2009, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home North Lamar. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2009 at Rockport Cemetery in Rockport, Texas.
