Garo was preceded in death by his brother, Harooteeg, his parents, Ardash and Ossanna Harutunian, and his sister, Shafika.
He is survived by his wife Francia; children Mariam and Melkon; siblings Aliece (Georgic), Takoohy, Hagob, and Kegham; and nieces and nephews Shant, Vigain, Anne, Natali, Anna, and Taliné (Albert).
Garo served Our Lord and Holy Mother Church with honor, grace, and a humble heart. Near and dear to his heart are the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the Knights of Columbus, being a founding member of the Saint Mary Cathedral Knights of Columbus Council 14055.
Garo was a well known civil engineer in Austin, Texas where he had a rewarding career. He was a member of several professional organizations, and proudly served the American Society of Civil Engineers in numerous roles throughout his professional career.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Cathedral, 203 E. 10th Street, Austin, Texas, with the Rosary of Christian Hope immediately following. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 at St. Mary Cathedral. Private entombment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
