Gary Piper, age 77, was born on January 18, 1934 in Newton, Kansas, and passed away
on February 9, 2011 in Austin.
He served the U.S. Army, worked in the jewelry business for a number of years, and owned Texas Radio until his retirement in 1996. Gary loved hunting, fishing, and golfing with his friends. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the University of Kansas Jayhawks.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and sister. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 38 years, Maxine Piper; his daughters, Pam Gorley, and Kathy and husband Ivan Frye; sister Alberta and husband Dean Tuck; his brother-in-law Jay and wife Pam Dupuy; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services celebrating Gary’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to his nurse, Lu Hodges and his physician, Dr. Richard Berry.
