Gayle was born to Ross and Lola Beavers in South Texas almost 65 years ago. The family moved to Plainview, Texas in time for Gayle's fun and frivolous High School days, where she graduated in 1965. After a year spent in Austin, Texas, working in the Capitol, she returned for Business and Office advanced training in Plainview. Then, back to Austin, Texas, where she worked for the President of the University of Texas at Austin. One student that strolled into the office on transcript business was one who she later recognized as the roommate of her own roommate's brother! It was just natural then that, within a year, she married that guy in the other apartment downstairs, Austin Lunos, in December of 1970.
Gayle was the proud mother of her two sons: Kevlyn Ashley Lunos, in December of 1976 and later Brandon Alexander Lunos, in May of 1984. After an eight year sojourn in the 1990's to satisfy her own spiritual yearnings, she returned to her 'physical' family in 2000. In January of 2005, her younger son, Brandon, was suddenly and unexpectedly taken from this earth, so Gayle now joins him in what must be one heck of a reunion, because Brandon was one of those perpetually happy and spiritually uplifting people by his very nature. In the wake of losing Brandon, Gayle unleashed an energy and creativity that had been seen only briefly, when she was much, much younger. Gayle began designing and assembling some of the most beautiful and unique pieces of jewelry, all aimed at being energizing and affordable to all. After getting a website presence for her displays in August of 2005, her jewelry business, Elegance 6 was formally established. Unfortunately, 5 years later, in August 2010, Gayle stopped working on her jewelry and was subsequently diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer and told she would probably not live beyond six months. Gayle did not accept that diagnosis and fought forward for two more years, but even her particular energies were not able to overcome this condition.
Gayle was a fiercely independent soul with a heart of gold, to which friends and family alike could always look to for encouragement and explanation of the importance of living one's personal beliefs, as one could usually see by direct example.
She is survived by her husband, Austin Edward Lunos; her son, Kevlyn Ashley Lunos; sisters, Myrtle, Marty, Jo, and Ida; and her brother, Gene; as well as so many wonderful nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
