Gene was born and raised in Austin, Texas and spent most of his adult life in the Steiner Ranch area. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam war and then found happiness working for the HEB grocery company with 18 years of service before retiring. He loved riding horses after work in the hills of the Ranch. After retiring he enjoyed being a school crossing guard near his home with his wife Lana Crawford. He loved all things Western and loved his family and dogs. You would often find him wearing his cowboy hat and boots. No matter what cards he was dealt in life, he always got through it with a smile on his face. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
Gene is survived by his wife, Lana Crawford; his daughter, Terri Kessler; his son, Matthew Kessler; grandchildren, Hannah Rendon and Luke Kessler.

Currently, due to the substantial public risk, city and state government mandates that social gatherings of limited amounts may occur with strict social distancing protocol. Current COVID protocols for Travis County, guests must wear protective masks at all times while inside the funeral home facility and practice the recommended six foot social distancing.
