

Gene (Woody) Woodworth passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2007. He was born December 31, 1920 in Port Arthur, Texas. He attended Western Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in 1947 where he lettered in football. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Woody served as 2nd Lieutenant in the infantry during WWII. He moved to Austin in 1952 and worked in real estate with Nelson Puett and Assoc. He joined the Texas Highway Dept. in 1959 as a Right of Way Appraiser, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church. Woody had a lifelong interest in sports, hunting, and was an avid golfer having served as President of the Austin Golf Association. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Madelyn Rarrick Woodworth; son, James (Buzzy) Woodworth; daughter, Lynn Woodworth; and his grandchildren, Jack and Maddie Woodworth, all of Austin. He was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Lee Eckert Woodworth. The family would like to thank the staff of Westminster Manor Healthcare Center for their loving care. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home with Rev. Pat A. Thomas officiating.
