George Blume was a good friend and mentor to me, and I will miss our monthly lunches. He loved oysters, and I will never be able to eat another one without thinking of him. George was a brilliant engineer and inventor who taught me everything I know about pump fluid ends. He was instrumental in developing many of my oil and gas customers. He was also very civic minded and gave his time generously for years as a volunteer with The Lakeway Friends of the Parks. I and my son had the pleasure of working with him on many occasions building trails, bridges and doing general upkeep in the parks. He was a hard taskmaster, but never asked anyone to do anything that he wouldn't do. It was a joy to work with him.  A good gentleman has passed, and I will miss him very much. Rest in peace, my friend.
