George won golf tournaments all his life; two of the most outstanding in the Virgin Islands are the St. Thomas Amateur Championship and the Eastern Caribbean Golf Championship. Still playing scratch golf in his sixties, he played against other islands in the Caribbean as a member of the St. Thomas Golf Association. George battled cancer with a positive attitude and sense of humor that his friends found amazing. He was preceded in death by his father, George Howell Marsh, Sr., and his mother, Elizabeth Faulkner Marsh. George was fun loving, unpretentious, kind, and honest, and will be deeply missed by his two sisters, Mary Marsh Flournoy and Elizabeth (Beth) Marsh Baldwin and her husband Robert Baldwin. He is also survived by his niece, Mary Elizabeth Baldwin, and nephews, Donald Marsh Flournoy and Royce Howell Flournoy.
