Gerald grew up in Austin. He was a resident at Southpoint, Mary Lee Foundation. There he was involved in many activities. He loved sports and played basketball, softball and participated in the Special Olympics. He loved the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys. He moved to the Bertram Nursing Home where he made many new friends and was closer to family. Gerald the “Gentle Giant” will be dearly missed.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Lester Patterson and Gladys Hill.
Gerald is survived by his brothers, James “Red” Patterson and wife, Jody; Leslie Patterson and wife, Joni; step-mother, Betty Patterson; niece, Rebecca Hale and husband, David; nephews, Levi Patterson and wife, Josie; Tyler Patterson and wife, Shay.

A Funeral Service will be held at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78752, US, on November 4, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by a Committal Service at Cook Walden – Memorial Hill, 13700 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660, US, on November 4, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
