Gerri was always a “New York City Girl” at heart. In her early years she was a Rockafeller Rockette, attended college and later became a full time mom.
She was a beloved wife, mother and mema as well as a friend to many.
Gerri was married to Lawrence Berrell Causey, Jr. and was suddenly widowed on October 31, 1970, left with three loving children, sons, Larry, Gregory and daughter, Kim.
On December, 1971 on New Year’s Day, she met the love of her life, Tony Iacono at the Hi-Tide Night Club. The song playing at that very moment was “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” thus began a wonderful life together. They were married on December 17th, 1972.
On January, 1975 the family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona for Tony’s job with Lockheed Aircraft Services. Then the family settled in Glendale, Arizona until 1982. Later the family moved to Austin, Texas with Lockheed Austin Division.
Gerri was always a loving full-time mother to her three children. After the children grew up and were on their own. She re-entered the workforce where she held various professions in the accounting field.
She loved to entertain hosting many events in her home. She was always considered “the hostess with the mostess.” She enjoyed traveling, going to casinos, dancing and playing poker with her friends. Mostly she loved her children, especially her grandchildren. She cherished their visits and stay overs, any opportunity to just be “mema,” showering them with love and protecting them with all her might. She will be missed by all of us.
Gerri is survived by her husband, Tony Iacono; and three children:
Son, Larry Causey and wife, Nancy and their four children, Kassaundra Causey, Justin Blakeley (deceased), Jason Blakeley and Amanda Causey.
Son, Gregory Causey and his son, Zachary Causey.
Daughter, Kim Miller and husband, Michael S. Miller II and their children, Michael S. Miller III, Crystal Miller and Kendall Miller.
There are no words to describe the love our family has for our beloved Gerri: wife, mother and Mema. She can never be replaced, she will always be in our hearts and never forgotten.
The family will receive friends at 12:00 noon, Thursday, September 12, 2013 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow at 12:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gerri’s memory to St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 4600 E. Ben White Blvd., Austin, Texas 78741.
