

Geraldine Lanell Pruett was called home to be with her heavenly Father on Thursday, the 30th of December 2010, at the age of 90. Geraldine Lanell McConnell was born in Dale Texas on the 24th of December, 1920 and was one of eleven children born to Milton and Jessie McConnell. From humble beginnings she went on to graduate from Austin High School in 1938. Geraldine married Earnest Pruett in 1939 and raised two loving children, Joyce Pruett (Durham) and Ralph Pruett. Geraldine served the State of Texas and retired from the Department of Public Safety in 1987 after 37 years of faithful service. In retirement she enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Geraldine was a dedicated member of the Church of Glad Tidings for 45 years where she sang in the choir, prepared communion, and taught children's Sunday school. She was well loved by her family and friends and will forever be in our hearts.
Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Earnest Pruett, and Sister Doris Boatright. Geraldine is survived by her brother David McConnell of San Antonio, Texas, daughter Joyce Durham and husband Charles Durham of Austin, Texas, son Ralph Pruett of Denver, Colorado; Grandchildren, Julie Hiegert and husband Eric Hiegert of Leander, Texas, Guy Durham of Austin, Texas, Jeff Pruett, Jason Pruett, Shelly Whitson and husband Jon Whitson, all of Denver, Colorado; Great-grandchildren Seth Allen, Havana Hiegert, Jonathan Whitson, Christopher Whitson, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from four o’clock in the afternoon until six o’clock in the evening on Sunday, the 2nd of January, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home located at 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas, 78752.
Funeral services are to be conducted Monday, the 3rd of January at two o’clock in the afternoon at Glad Tidings located at 2700 Northland Drive, Austin, Texas with Pastor Vic Schober officiating. Interment services will follow at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery
in Pflugerville, Texas.
