Gerardo Lalo Cortez, age 83 of Austin, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 28, 2005. Lalo was a lifelong resident of Central Texas, born in Buda and lived in Austin for over 58 years. He worked for John R. Andrews Construction and retired, but returned as a construction consultant. He is preceded in death by his son, Pete Cortez; parents, Roberta Reyna Cortez and Rosalio Cortez. He was the sole survivor of four brothers and eight sisters. He is survived by Maria Antonia Cortez, wife of 57 years; daughters, Anita C. Moreno (Manuel), Magdalena Cortez, and Rosie Cortez; and son, Ramon Cortez; grandchildren, Manuel Moreno, Jr., Andrew Moreno, Julius Cortez (Christina), Alma Cortez-Hill, Katarina Cortez; and other family and friends. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Dolores Catholic Church, 1111 Montopolis Drive, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial which will begin at 10:00 A.M.
