

Gil Moody, age 79, of Sunset Valley, Texas passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, April 24, 2009.He was born in Wellington, Texas on December 7, 1929, the son of G. Ward and Marie Moody. Gil is survived by his wife Vina; his son, Trey Moody and his wife Kimberly; his grandsons Joshua, Joel, Marshal and Morgan. Gil is also survived by his sister, Marie Velliquette; brother, Ed C. Moody and wife Nan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Betty Doescher. He was retired from the Texas State Department of Agriculture. He also was proud to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps, retiring as Sergeant Major. He was a member of Bannockburn Baptist Church. His life was spent helping others with membership in the Ben Hur Shriners and the American Legion, where he once served as Department Commander. He also was a member of the Onion Creek Masonic Lodge. In addition, Gil was a dedicated volunteer in community service at the City of Sunset Valley and was a member of the Capital Area Law Enforcement Association. Visitation hours are 6:00-8:00pm on Monday, April 27 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Ave. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 28 at 1:00pm at Weed-Corley-Fish South Chapel. The graveside service will be at Live Oak Cemetery in Manchaca, Texas.
