Ironic. I was just thinking about NBS recently. Then I received a message from Daisy that Ginger had passed. I'm so saddened.

My deepest and heartfelt condolences to Ginger's family and all of us who had the pleasure of knowing and working with her. I knew her for eight years while working at Newborn Screening. Ginger was a kind and gentle person with a loving heart. She was always considerate of others and she truly loved helping all of Texas newborns get the assistance they needed. I'll miss Ginger very much and I'll always remember her fondly.

My deepest condolences to Ginger's family. Ginger was not only a great friend, she was like a sister to me. From the day I started at Newborn Screening, she took me under her wings and we instantly became friends. We shared so many wonderful memories together, both at work and outside of work. We laughed and cried and gossiped and confided with each other. She was kind-hearted, caring and generous...she was a gentle soul. She loved her family. Her cats brought her joy. She frequently shared photos of them, glued on tv watching the Animal Planet. I will miss our chats, the back and forth text messages, surprise gifts in the mail, eating out, visiting and just simply hanging out.
Rest now my dear friend. Thank you for all the beautiful memories. They will stay in my heart forever.

My condolences to the Scott Family. Ginger Scott was the most caring, generous and loving person I had the honor of working with for over 15 years. Countless families with newborns all over Texas were touched by Ginger's love and genuine desire to ensure all newborns that came to her received the care and attention they needed. Ginger's relationships with specialists, nurses and medical staff throughout Texas and her co-workers were truly amazing. The Newborn Screening Family at the Department of State Health Services and her co-workers at the Texas Workers Comp Commission where I first met Ginger will always have a place in our hearts for her. I will truly miss sharing kitty stories with Ginger - we had so many. Ginger was truly an Angel, may she rest in peace.

My heart and prayers go out to Ginger’s family and friends. I worked with Ginger for over 14 years in Newborn Screening as a nurse and Team Lead. Ginger truly cared about the newborn babies of Texas, and making sure their care was the number 1 priority. Her support to the doctors and specialists was astounding. She will always be remembered for her dedication to saving the lives of newborn babies. Rest In Peace.

My deepest sympathy to the family. Ginger taught me much as we worked together for the newborn screen babies. She was always so kind and helpful. She went out of her way to be sure things were done right. The Texas babies were in good hands with her. She is already deeply missed. Rest in peace Ginger.

My deepest condolences to Ginger's family.
Ginger was an amazing person. She was a truly caring and loving person and the world would be a better place if there were more people like her walking this Earth. She was so knowledgeable and had an incredible memory - especially when it came to the Texas babies she and her team helped. It was pleasure to work along side of her and I will truly miss her and I will miss our prep calls and meetings before our annual NBS meetings - I am still astonished and amazed that she could walk into a meeting, year after year, and know very specific information about the every baby she and her team followed!
Rest in peace my friend,
Patty Hunt

Ginger was my Lead Nurse in the TX Newborn Screening Program. She taught me and mentored me. I learned so much from her and loved her sweet kind nature. She loved the babies she helped save, her furry cats and giving gifts. She had a passion for helping people. My heart is truly broken to hear of her passing and my sincere condolences are with her mother, brother, sisters and nieces and nephews. She would fondly reminisce about funny family stories. May you all have peace in your heart knowing she is in God's memory. I will miss my dear sweet friend.

I can still see Ginger sitting in a rocking chair suntanning and looking after her duck. She was always beautiful inside and out. Always caring I remember she spent the night at my house one night and a scorpion stung my finger and she grabbed my hand and sucked on my finger until it stopped hurting. I saw her only 3 or 4 times since High School but have so many fond memories. She will be missed. Loved her!

My heartfelt condolences to Ginger’s mom, brother and sisters. I am so deeply saddened and my heart hurts at the loss of my dear friend Ginger. Ginger was like the sister I never had. She always made time for me and was a trusted friend and confidant. I worked with Ginger for 14 years and learned everything I know about Newborn Screening from her. Ginger loved what she did and did it with a zealous heart. Fly high my sweet friend. Love you.

To Ginger's Family:
My heartfelt condolences for your loss.
I had the great pleasure of working with Ginger for well over 8 years in the NBS Program. I have so many memories of our time working together. Ginger was an excellent Team Lead. I never worried about the team when I had to be away from the office. I missed her dearly when I moved to the Inspector General's office (in fact, I tried very hard to recruit her, but she just loved working with the babies too much) Ginger saved many newborn lives working in NBS. I know She will be greatly missed.
Warmest Regards,
Daisy Johnson

Ginger was such a lovely lady. I worked with Ginger for 14 years. We both shared a love for cats. I enjoyed seeing pictures and hearing stories of her family and fur babies. Ginger was always a very generous and thoughtful person who never forgot a birthday and every year without fail, I would get a birthday gift and a Christmas gift. Ginger was very dedicated to her job and the babies in Texas. Her work ethic was and still is very inspiring. I am so sorry to Ginger's family for the loss of such a special person. I will miss seeing and chatting with Ginger.
Sincerely ~ Linda Babola
