

Gladys Wilma Sturdivant Gunn (a.k.a. Mom, Mother, Granny, Great Granny, Aunt Red, Aunt Hotshot, Kid, and Aunt Gunn), age 86, left to go to her eternal home with Jesus on July 25, 2012. Gladys was born in Allen, Texas July 22, 1926, to the late William Alfred Sturdivant and Emma Wilhelm Sturdivant. She was raised around Mountain Home and Buda and loved roaming the pastures, hunting, fishing and riding horses. In 1942 she graduated from Buda High School and went to Corpus Christi to work for the war effort. She married Eli Taylor Gunn July 12, 1946 and worked as a purchasing agent for the Texas National Guard at the United States Property & Fiscal Office at Camp Mabry. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years Eli Taylor Gunn; daughter Gayle Gunn Yandell; son William (Billy) Alvin Gunn; sister Louise Dahlin; brother David Dahlin and wife Eugenia; sister Florence Farr and husband Cullen; brother-in-law John Bermond Owens Sr. She is survived by her daughter Nanda Bryan; son James Gunn; son-in-law Larry Yandell; grandchildren Randy Yandell and wife Kim, Kevin Yandell and Kristina Frederick, Kyle Yandell and wife Stefanie, Christopher Gunn and wife Salina, Tami Sable and husband Stephen and Brandon Gunn and wife Tya; great grandchildren Makenna, Jade, Shauna, Carson, Tommy, Logan, Scarlett and coming soon, Mollie. She is also survived by her sister Lucille Owens of Buda and numerous friends, nieces, and nephews.
The family will always be thankful for the awesome staff on the 3rd floor at Seton Hospital Main who not only took care of Gladys but her family as well. The family also wishes to thank the wonderful people at Odyssey Hospice for their support and guidance.
Friends are cordially invited for a visitation with the family on Sunday the 29th of July, from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock in the evening, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd. Austin, Texas.
Celebration of Life will be held on Monday the 30th of July at 11 o’clock in the morning at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd. Austin, Texas. Burial will be at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to the Odyssey Hospice or the American Cancer Association.
