Gloria Alvarez Carmona

She was preceded in death by her father, Luis G. Alvarez, mother, Hortencia Sontoya Alvarez, and her husband of 45 years, Ben Carmona Jr.

She is survived by her sister, Olivia Salinas (Frank), and her brother, Louis S. Alvarez Jr. (Rosalinda); children, Joe Rocha III (Chi), Benny Carmona III, Kris Rocha, Louie Carmona (Julie), and Armando Carmona (Joanna). Many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and loving family and friends.

Gloria was born and raised in Austin, she graduated from Travis High school. She proudly worked for Austin ISD for over 50 years working in the offices of schools all over the community. She made countless friends over the years helping parents, teachers, and students.

Gloria will be remembered for her beautiful smile, great dancing, funny jokes, classy style, and that bright red lipstick! She was the “mom of all moms”, dedicating her free time to all things sports for her sons and all the grandkids. Her tireless devotion to her family always shined through.

A special and loving thank you to nieces, Priscilla D. Salinas and Gloria Estrada, along with speech therapist Emily Garza and the rest of the staff at Legend Oaks-Kyle. We are deeply grateful for their compassionate care, love, and comfort they brought to Mom in her final months.

Services will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish funeral home, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704 on April 3, 2026 at 2:00 pm.
