Gonsales Ignacio Garcia, known by all as "Speedy" passed away February 17 2021 in Austin at the age of 92.

Speedy was born in Jollyville Texas to Jesus and Lucinda Garcia, January 15, 1929. He was one of ten children, five sisters, four brothers.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Jane. Son, Robert, Daughter Billie Sue. Brothers, Frank, Fred, Albert and Andrew. Sisters, Angela, Josie, Rosie, and Antonia.

He is survived by his sister Maria. Grandchildren: Patsy, Michael, Michelle, Mark, Ronnie, and Tammy. Eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Speedy was a self-contractor in fencing and worked well into his seventies. He was always busy "tinkering" with things and could almost make anything broken work again.

He enjoyed family gatherings, cards, and drinking. Daily breakfasts with his sister Mary. Being in touch with his nieces, Little Mary, Gloria, and Chavala. He was always appreciative when he needed help with the house and yard from his grandson Ronnie, nephews Tommy, Stephen, Sylvester, and Johnny. Speedy treasured his time spent with his grandson Michael (cowboy) and his two girls Ashley and Amanda.

His family loved him dearly. His stories, his out-spokeness and wit, the way he touched each of our lives will be greatly missed.

There are not enough pages to fill with the memories and love for Speedy and to express how we are all blessed to have had him in our lives.

I loved you more than words could ever express. You were my peedy and I was your pooh bear.
I remember when I was little and would get so excited for Friday because I knew you and nannie were coming to get me for the weekend. We would head straight to HEB to pick up our favorite foods and sodas.
After we would head to the 99 cent store where I always got what ever I wanted.
Y'all spoiled me rotten and you were my happy place growing up. I love you to the moon. And you will always be in my heart ❤

I remember when we were little Uncle Speedy and Aunt Jane would always buy me and my cousin Mary Jane a Christmas gift and it would always be the same outfit, so for years I thought that me and Mary Jane were twins but they bought us the same thing because my name was Rebecca Jane and my cousins name was Mary Jane and we were named after my Aunt Jane I was so upset because I found out later I was not a twin. When I told uncle speedy he said don't worry you will always be my little flaca. I will miss you dearly TIO, I LOVE YOU.

Uncle Speedy was a great and special man. He was known to all as Uncle Speed or Tio. He was always there at weddings, funeral, quinceaneras, baptisms, birthdays, or bar-o-ques con la Familia. He would have chicken and dumplings and cornbread with his sisters Angela, Rosa, Tonia, Josie (Cruz), Mary and some of his many nieces and nephews. He had a good relationship with his brothers Frank, Alberto (Red), Fred. Andrew, and his beloved wife Jane. So many wonderful memories. He will live in our hearts and be missed. Have faith, be strong, know that God will comfort us. "Blessed are those who morn for they shall be comforted." Matt.5:4 Rest in Peace Tio
Love you! Blessings Lucy

My uncle was a special person. His real name is Ignacio García and I would like to see that included. He was a good, hardworking and independent man. He did a lot to help my mom, Tony, when she no longer drove. We will miss him.
