

Guadalupe "Lupe" Lafuente passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas at the age of 81 with his family at his side. A celebration of life service will be held with visitation beginning at 6 pm, following with a rosary at 7 pm. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home. Mass will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery
Lupe was born February 5, 1933 in Brady, Texas.
Lupe's first love was spending time with his wife, family and friends. Lupe was a quick learner. Within 6 months after picking up a saxophone, he was playing and singing with Nash Hernandez Orchestra. Music was always part of his life and he loved to dance. He boxed in the Golden Gloves and also served in the National Guard.
With an entrepreneurial spirit, while working 17 years for Ed Minor's Pharmacy, Lupe also operated several business ventures which included a lounge called the Latin Quarters and a record shop. Later he moved to Dallas/Irving where he ran his successful real estate business until he retired.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gloria Lafuente; daughter, Amelia (Molly) Rodriguez and husband Joel; son, Michael Lafuente and wife Esther; son, Angel Lafuente; and daughters, Annette and Shirley Lafuente. Lupe was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Marisela and husband Chad Mitchley; Adrianna and partner, Jermaine Beal; Matthew and Christopher and 2 great grandchildren, Jaidyn Nicole Beal, and Freya Evangeline Mitchley.
