

Guadalupe Alvarado Martinez, 89, joined her husband, Bernardo Martinez and mother, Maria Salcedo and daughter, Isabel Martinez in peaceful rest on Saturday, April 27, 2013 in Buda, Texas. Lupe was born on May 26, 1923 to Maria Salcedo in Zacatecas, Mexico.
She attended Bowie High School in El Paso, Texas excelling in her studies and catching the eye of her future husband Bernardo Martinez. Loving her life in El Paso, she was a devoted wife for 53 years, dedicated homemaker, and mother extraordinaire. Her exceptional inner and outer beauty were perfectly matched to her fantastic intelligence and determination. She was known for her kindness, caring, quiet strength, and genuine love for her family. She had an emerald thumb in gardening, contagious rhythm in dancing, and competitive nature in games, puzzles, and reading. Her sense of humor, quick wit, and friendly demeanor attracted and overjoyed all those around her.
Lupe is survived by her daughter, Martha Lugo and husband George; sons, Albert Martinez and partner, Olga Portillo, Bernie Martinez, and Manuel Martinez and wife, Kim; grandchildren, Roman Martinez, Marisa Wandeler and husband, Dan, Marcus Martinez and wife, Jody, Monica Massad and husband, Nick, Jorge Lugo, Benjamin Lugo, Damon Martinez, great-grandchildren, Danny Wandeler, Kailei Martinez, Koa Martinez, Zeke Wandeler, Isabella Martinez, N.J. Massad, Micah Massad, and Baby Lugo.
The family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2013 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with funeral services following at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Kevin D. Lentz of Bethany Lutheran Church to officiate. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2013 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza Road in El Paso, Texas.
