Gwendolyn Dawn Doering Glass

Gwendolyn Dawn Doering Glass of Austin, Texas passed peacefully into the tender care of our Lord on May 10, 2013. Gwen was the beloved wife of Horace M. Glass who passed away in 1978. They were married for 31 years.

Gwen was born in Dallas, Texas on February 4, 1924 to Margarethe Wagenfuehr Doering and Gus A. Doering. She was the third of five children and is survived by her dear brother, Gus A. Doering Jr. and his wife Laverne. Gwen attended Pease Elementary, University Junior High and graduated from Austin High School at the age of sixteen. Her distinguished vocation was to be a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother which duties she tirelessly, unconditionally and compassionately performed even to the night she passed away.

Gwen is survived by her three children, Gary M. Glass, of Pflugerville, Mary Love Glass Alkusari and her husband Tarif, Carley Glass Gallagher and her husband Greg, all of Austin. Gwen is now united with her dear husband , Horace, and dearly beloved son, David, who passed away in 1971. The following are Gwen' s grandchildren , all of Austin :Ashley Glass, Adam Alkusari , Farrah Alkusari, Zachary Alkusari, Abram Alkusari , Noah Alkusari, Gregory Gallagher, Ryan Gallagher, Erin Toledo, and Kristen Gallagher. Gwen also loved seven great grandchildren . Mom, Grandma, we love you and shall miss you!

We will celebrate Gwen Glass's life at a graveside service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Dr., with Reverend Dr. Gerald B. Kieschnick officiating.
