
Graveside services for Harold G. Robinson, 92, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2007, at Old Oakwood Cemetery, 1601 Navasota St., Austin, TX. He died Sept. 12, 2007, at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Casper, Wyoming. He was born June 19, 1915, in Austin, Texas, to Athan P. and Nellie Belle (Klunkert) Robinson. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School, and then attended the University of Texas. When a lack of funds necessitated a return to full-time employment, he worked for the City of Austin in its electrical distribution department. In 1945, he completed his degree in electrical engineering at the University of Texas and received his professional engineers license. On June 6, 1945, he married Anne Durrum. Anne and Harold had two daughters, Robin and Lear. In the early 1950s he went to work for the Austin Concrete Works as Assistant Manager. He later became general manager, operating plants in Austin, San Antonio and Waco. He retired in 1982 as a Vice President of Gifford Hill Concrete Pipe Co. He was a talented French horn player, playing in the University of Texas Longhorn Band and the Austin Symphony Orchestra. He was an avid golfer and an active member of the Ben Hur Shrine Club and the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. He and Annie took ballroom dancing lessons for many years. They attended numerous dances in those years and danced every dance. He is survived by his daughter, Lear Weaver and her husband, Scott, of Casper, Wyoming, 2 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 3 great-granddaughters, and 3 great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Annie; his daughter, Robin; his sister, Charlotte Nowlin; his brother, Thaddeus Robinson; and one grandson, Kirt Landon Weaver. Memorials can be sent to the Alzheimers Association in the name of Harold G. Robinson.
