Harry L. Cannon

August 10, 1932December 31, 2012

Harry Lloyd Cannon joined his heavenly Father on Monday, December 31, 2012. Born August 10, 1932 in Waco , Texas . After graduating from Waco High School in May, 1951 he attended Tarleton University before joining the United States Army. It was while serving in Philadelphia Pennsylvania during the Korean Conflict that he met his wife Dorothy Anne Cotshott. They were married on April 7, 1956. Harry spent almost 30 years working in the banking industry as a consumer loan officer before retiring from the Texas Health Department in 2006. Harry enjoyed hunting, woodworking and most of all antiques. He loved the challenge of taking something old and worn and stripping it down, sanding and staining it and bringing out it's true beauty....he was a banker by day and a true handyman by night, jack of all trades. Harry is preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy Anne Cotshott Cannon, parents Lois Jordan Cannon and Lettie Amanda Stuart Cannon, and grandchildren Lauren Marie Walker and Cameron Noble Walker. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carol L. and Noble E. Walker, his son and daughter-in-law, Kip L. and Cathy Cannon, and grandchildren, Brittany M. Walker, Jeremy N. Walker, Tyler Cannon, Kolby Cannon and brother and sister-in-law Doyle L. and Mattie Cannon. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Thursday, the 3rd of January 2013, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.

A funeral service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 4th of January, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Onion Creek Cemetery, Austin, Texas.

Although we didn't know Harry well, our family has been blessed by our friendships with his. Surely this last year has been difficult, losing both mother and father. We wish you memories that make you smile, inspire a good story or two, and bring peace and comfort to each of you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. The Moorhead Family

We are very sorry to learn of Harry's passing. Harry and Dorothy were such a delight to know during our auction years. I still have a kitchen clock (1880's) that Harry refurbished; he loved to work on those antique pieces. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
